The Cyclebetes Spin-a-Thon Student Leadership Programs - High School students
A revolutionary program that builds leadership skills, promotes an active healthy lifestyle in the schools and communities and supports students with scholarships and bursaries.
The Cyclebetes Spin-a-Thon is an indoor stationary bike relay hosted by high schools across Canada and the US. It is a student led event and undertaken by a leadership class or club, student's council or a group of students who want to make a difference. The Spin-a-Thon raises funds and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and is a fully supported leadership program for students. The Cyclebetes 10 STEP Spin-a-Thon Leadership Program is an interactive program that leads students through the process of commitment, team building, visioning, goal setting, communications, marketing, public relations, media, logistics and sponsorship acquisition with lessons, tutorials and templates. Student leaders and sponsor teachers are fully supported by the Cyclebetes School Team throughout the 8 - 12 week planning process and benefit from a host of professional mentors. The 10 STEP Program creates a large, 12 - 24 hour event with 15 -100 participating teams! |
| The Cyclebetes 5 STEP Spin-a-Thon Leadership Program has been created for schools and student who want to deliver on a promise and help find a cure for juvenile diabetes with a shortened time line. The 5 STEP Spin-a-Thon Leadership Program can be executed in 3-4 weeks and develops leadership potential and social responsibly in youth. The Cyclebetes 5 STEP program provides students with a leadership roadmap and instills a Can do! spirit in all! The 5 STEP Program creates a smaller event with 5-10 participating teams and would be a great Fall kick off to ignite school spirit! |

A Promise for a Cure.
Type 1 diabetes is devastating
On average type 1 shortens life by 15 years.
Diagnosis is most common in youth between 5 and 9, however, adolescence and adult cases of type 1 diabetes are on the increase.
Type 1 diabetics live with more than 1500 needle pricks a year just to stay alive - but this is not a cure - there is no cure.
There are 246 million people worldwide with type 1 diabetes - most of them are children.
This number is expected to rise to 380 million by 2025.
This could be you or someone in your family.
